In the early spring, workers in Shandan county, Zhangye, Northwest China's Gansu province, are busy building greenhouses, which are part of the second phase in the construction of the local agricultural industry integration development demonstration park.
The rural industrial park has convenient transportation. It is adjacent to the Dafo Temple Scenic Area, famous for being home to the largest indoor sleeping Buddha in all of China.
The project will be constructed in two phases with a planned investment of 45 million yuan ($6.51 million). The first phase has invested 21 million yuan in 30 steel frame and quilt greenhouses that cover an area of 100,000 square meters.
Upon completion, the facilities will be used for planting plateau summer vegetables and characteristic melons and fruits, which will help local farmers standardize production.
