On a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) bamboo brush pot’s outer side, among willow trees and mountains, a building and a pavilion face each other across a river. Date and artist information can be found in the spare space over the trees. The pot was carved by Zhang Xihuang, a bamboo carving master who lived during the early Qing Dynasty.
Donated by Chen Qicheng (1902-1983) in 1980, the brush pot is in the permanent collection of the Shanghai Museum.
