Located in the New Hongqiao International Medical Park in Huacao town of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, Shanghai Parkway Hospital, the only Sino-foreign joint venture general hospital of its kind, recently opened for trial operation. It is striving to become a flagship medical institute with local characteristics.
Since it entered the Chinese market in 2004, Parkway has set up five medical institutions in Shanghai, bringing together a professional team of nearly 100 doctors and offering medical care for nearly one million people.
Covering 84,400 square meters, the first phase of the hospital has a total investment of 1.61 billion yuan ($233.61 million) and a capacity of nearly 500 beds. There are 42 internal medicine and specialist consulting rooms, 66 wards, VIP suites and top laminar flow operating rooms.
In the initial stage, the hospital will open some outpatient departments including respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, cardiovascular medicine, endocrinology, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, plastic surgery, traditional Chinese medicine and oncology.
It also launched the Metaverse Pulmonary Nodule Diagnosis, Treatment and Health Management Center led by the national respiratory expert Bai Chunxue. The center could realize the human-machine fusion of diagnosis and treatment through AR assistance and improve the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary nodules based on the internet of things and metaverse.
Shanghai Parkway Hospital integrates first-class medical standards and efficiency into its overall design, providing a comfortable and safe medical environment for patients. For example, it has multi-channel entrances and exits, appointment-based medical services, independent observation beds and double privacy curtains.
After the trial operation, the hospital will join hands with Parkway's network in Shanghai, Singapore and Hong Kong, and offer one-stop quality medical services to residents in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region.
In the next step, the hospital will set up professional diagnosis and treatment services such as thoracic surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, stomatology, dermatology, general practice, health management and preventive health care.
