WND IC manufacturing innovation cluster included on national list

Wuxi National Hi-tech District's integrated circuit manufacturing innovation cluster has been included on the list of innovative industry clusters by the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

This is the first time that the city of Wuxi has been included on the list. It is also the only place in Jiangsu province to be included.

As of the end of 2022, the total industrial scale of the WND's IC manufacturing innovation cluster was 135.2 billion yuan ($19.74 billion), accounting for about one-ninth of the national total. It has become the first cluster in the country to cover the entire IC industrial chain, including research and development, manufacturing, packaging and testing, design, equipment, applications, and services. Its industrial scale is second only to Shanghai's Zhangjiang among all national high-tech zones.

WND is now home to eight listed companies, including CR Microelectronics, Chipown Microelectronics, Wuxi NCE Power Co, and Wuxi Lead Intelligent Equipment Co. The National Center for Advanced Packaging won first place in the National Science and Technology Progress Awards in 2020.

WND has jointly established various innovation centers with the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute. It has also built major innovation platforms, including the Huajin National IC characteristic process and packaging testing innovation center, MEMS advanced perception research and development center, and Wuxi IC and energy storage research institute.

WND was also selected as one of the first eight innovative industry clusters in the province.
