Overseas graduates benefit from business policies

Shanghai's efforts to improve its business environment over the years have not only made it easier for companies to do business, but also have made life more convenient for talents, including Chinese overseas graduates.

Among them is Bian Yongwen, who managed to find an apartment that is located a walking distance from his workplace thanks to the subsidies offered by the district government of Changning.

Bian, who graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States, is currently working at Chinese travel service provider Trip.com as a research and development engineer.

According to Yuan Peng, an official from Changning district's human resources and social security bureau, more than 70 talents working at the district's major enterprises like Pinduoduo Inc, Trip.com, and Bosch China are benefiting from the policy which offers them up to 45,000 yuan ($6,564.75) in living subsidies annually.

Wu Yifei, external relationship management director with Bosch China, said in a news conference on Wednesday that the company has also benefited from the moves to enhance the business environment. He pointed out that Bosch China's sales revenue has increased significantly from some 40 billion yuan to 130 billion yuan from 2011 to last year.

Ye Pengju, director of Changning district's development and reform commission, said the district pays special attention to eight areas, including governance service, trade and investment, high-quality service for corporations, talent services to fair market competition, and the rule of law.
