An elegantly dressed lady sits alone among the rocks, where green grass grows, gazing at three rabbits playing on the ground. Such a scene was depicted by Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) portrait artist Yu Zhiding (1647-1716). The details of the folds and patterns on the lady’s clothes were meticulously presented. The fur of the rabbits, two white and one brown, were fashioned using fine lines to capture the animals’ softness and fluffiness.

The painting is a hanging scroll from the permanent collection of the Shanghai Museum.
