The public warehouse of Wuxi-based Jinmao Co Ltd in Dallas, the United States was recently rated as a provincial one, according to the Wuxi municipal bureau of commerce.
Currently, the city is home to eight provincial-level public overseas warehouses, covering a combined area of 111,000 square meters, ranking first in Jiangsu province. These warehouses have served over 200 enterprises.
Jinmao's warehouse in Dallas is a 15,000-sq m automatic warehouse.
The warehouse can take advantage of the transportation and customs business in Dallas and the allocation capacity in China to provide more efficient service for customers, said Mao Zhongjian, general manager of Jinmao.
Mao added that the overseas warehouse can also more efficiently manage cargo, handle orders, and help create more small orders to increase trading volume.
Over the past two years, Wuxi has regarded the construction of overseas warehouses as an important measure to advance the establishment of an international marketing service system.
Local businesses have been encouraged to build overseas warehouses. Last year, three enterprises established nine public overseas warehouses.
To date, 26 enterprises in Wuxi have built 49 public warehouses, with a total area of more than 600,000 sq m, in 20 countries.
