Shanxi clarifies recycling production goals for 2021-25

Shanxi province will act to form a recycling production model and lifestyle as it embarks on a green and low-carbon recycling development path during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).

The province will improve resource utilization efficiency, build a recycling system for waste materials and a new model for ecological recycling agriculture, advance the green and low-carbon development of industrial parks, enhance the technological innovation ability of the recycling economy and promote a green recycling lifestyle. 

Six projects related to the comprehensive utilization of bulk solid waste, resource utilization of construction waste, recycling system of urban waste materials, resource utilization of agricultural and forestry waste, establishment of demonstrative industrial parks for green and low-carbon recycling, and key technology and equipment innovation in the recycling economy will be carried out during the period.

By 2025, the province aims to establish a resource recycling system. The comprehensive utilization rate of new bulk solid waste is expected to reach 60 percent, the comprehensive utilization rate of construction waste to reach 60 percent, and the recycling rate of urban domestic waste to reach 35 percent. 

Around 70 percent of people are expected to use eco-friendly transportation tools by then.
