Foreign firms honored before Lantern Festival

A Lantern Festival celebration for foreign entrepreneurs and high-end talent was held on Feb 3 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

Expatriates and senior executives from Dongfeng Honda, ISA International School of Wuhan, and other foreign-invested companies were invited to watch lion dances and mask-changing performances and listen to traditional Chinese music.

The top 10 foreign contributors to the economy and top 10 foreign contributors to local investment in WEDZ for 2022 were also revealed during the event.

By the end of last year, the zone had become home to over 400 foreign enterprises, with the majority of them engaged in the automotive businesses.

The zone registered 346.2 billion yuan ($51.1 billion) in output among industries above a designated size, with foreign direct investment reaching $502 million, ranking among the top in Wuhan.

Meanwhile, 19 new foreign companies started operating in WEDZ.
