Cruising the Yangtze River was a popular activity during the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday in Wuhan, Hubei province, with many tourists taking a ride.

In service for six years, the Zhiyin cruise received a record number of tourists on Jan 23.

"The night views in Wuhan are as good as they are in Paris or London," a tourist surnamed Zhou said. To add personality to a cruise, tourists can rent cheongsam clothing at the pier before boarding.

Wuhan had more than 15,000 cruise passengers between Jan 22 and 26.

Efforts will be made to enrich services on cruises and to enhance the popularity of light shows and other night tourist spots along the Yangtze, an official from the cultural and tourism bureau of Wuhan said.

Since 2022, more electronic cruises have sprung up, achieving zero-emissions and providing stable and quiet travel experiences.

On the cruises, tourists can enjoy night views, talk shows, dancing, acrobatics and shadow plays.
