The convention and exhibitions sector in the Pudong New Area in East China's Shanghai city is said to have been growing rapidly over the past 20 years.
In fact, the exhibitions area in Pudong is estimated to have reached nearly 50 percent of the city's total.
It has attracted a large number of internationally renowned brands exhibitions and formed a mature industry supply chain integrating product displays, trade negotiations, technical exchanges and exhibition services.
On Jan 30, the Pudong New Area held a conference on the advanced development of the conventions and exhibitions industry. A total of 10 measures to vigorously promote the comprehensive recovery of the industry were released there.
Under these measures, the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce will guide the Pudong New Area to pilot establish a "four-in-one" exhibition investment attraction mechanism – composed of municipal and district industry promotion departments, key venues and exhibition service units.
At the same time, the regional headquarters of multinational exhibition companies will be rewarded with annual grants within a period of five years, based on their contributions to Pudong.
In addition, Shanghai Customs, the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration and other relevant departments will continue to improve customs clearance facilitation services – in terms of entries and exits for participants and exhibitors and the supervision of exhibits.
What's more, Shanghai is encouraging organizers to build online exhibition platforms and supports the construction of smart exhibition venues in Pudong.
