Qinshui county in North China's Shanxi province was recently included in the list of China's top 100 counties in terms of green development in 2022.
In recent years, Qinshui county has been accelerating green transformation efforts, and has achieved remarkable results in energy conservation and green development.
A series of wind power, photovoltaic and gas power generation projects have been put into operation in the county, bringing the installed capacity of new energy in the county to 1,254 MW and the annual power generation to 2.61 kWh.
The county has also accelerated the reconstruction of coal mines, with 44 intelligent coal mining faces built last year alone.
From January to September in 2022, the comprehensive utilization rate of industrial solid waste in the county was 74.7 percent.
From January to November last year, the county's large-scale industrial comprehensive energy consumption decreased 20.55 percent year-on-year, while coal consumption among enterprises above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.96 million) or more – decreased 79.02 percent year-on-year.
So far, 94 percent of rural residents in the county have access to gas.
Projects related to new building materials, green casting, and environmental protection technology have also been introduced to the county.
In addition, Qinshui county has been boosting its tourism industry based on local natural resources. Last year, the county received more than 3.5 million visits for the purpose of relaxation and health care, leading to revenue of more than 600 million yuan.
