Taizhou city sets out economic, social development targets

Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province recently set forth its economic and social development goals for 2023.

That's according to the government work report, released during the second session of the 6th People's Congress of Taizhou on Jan 6.

The city has targeted GDP growth in 2023 of around 6 percent. Revenue in the general public budget and per capita disposable income is projected to be in line with economic growth. Moreover, fixed asset investment is expected to increase by about 8 percent, total retail sales of consumer goods by around 7 percent and consumer prices by around 3 percent. The proportion of total social R&D investment will account for 2.7 percent.

In addition, Taizhou plans to complete its targets for energy conservation and emissions reductions set out by the province.

According to the work report, Taizhou intends to step up its efforts to boost the high-quality development of the health-related sector.

What's more, it will develop four major industrial clusters – for high-end equipment, high-tech shipbuilding, chemicals and the new materials industry, an automobiles and parts cluster and a solar power and a new energy cluster.

To promote its rural revitalization, Taizhou plans to create five traditional villages, 10 characteristic pastoral villages and 60 eco-friendly and beautiful villages at the provincial level.

The city will increase its support of employment, creating 60,000 jobs in 2023. In total, plans are for 30 schools to be expanded, as well as specialized hospitals built for contagion, tumors, rehabilitation and for geriatric needs.
