Maoming completes 10 key goals to support people's livelihood in 2022

The Maoming municipal government completed 10 key goals to support people's livelihood in 2022, seven of which exceeded target goals.

Maoming has a population of more than 8 million, of which nearly 60 percent are rural residents. The foundation of domestic sewage treatment was weak in rural areas and the task of treatment is arduous. To date, Maoming has completed 8,108 natural village sewage treatment projects, exceeding the target of 100 natural village sewage treatment projects.

On Sept 14, 2022, Maoming launched a free HPV vaccination program for school-age girls. In the 2022-2023 semester, more than 52,000 junior high school girls were vaccinated, exceeding the goal of 50,000. The awareness rates of cervical cancer prevention and control among girls and parents in Maoming's junior middle school reached 92.54 percent and 92.77 percent, respectively.

In 2022, Maoming restored three broken roads and renovated 10 dangerous bridges, which is four more than the annual target.

In order to solve the shortage of grassroots medical staff, Guangdong Maoming Health Vocational College has trained 238 college students in traditional Chinese medicine. Currently, the first batch of training funds has been allocated to continue this program.

In 2022, Maoming completed the renovation of 791 impoverished households, with a completion rate of 226 percent. Maoming has provided barrier-free facilities to 1,173 families with difficulties or disabilities, with a completion rate of 117 percent. Moaming completed barrier-free facilities adaptation services for 1,500 disabled people ahead of schedule.

Maoming has issued leasing subsidies to 1,400 households, with a completion rate of 148 percent. It has also started construction on 384 new housing units to replace shanty houses. Maoming has finished construction and inspection of 744 housing units to replace unsafe shanty houses, with a completion rate of 105 percent.

One of the 10 key goals for Maoming was to complete five small reservoir projects. To date, it has completed 27 such projects, far overtaking its goal.

By the end of November 2022, Maoming had trained 6,219 Cantonese chefs, with a completion rate of 124.4 percent. It also trained 22,463 Guangdong skilled workers and 6,990 housekeeping staff, with a completion rate of 112.3 percent and 116.5 percent respectively.

Maoming has built 112 town-level community worker service stations and about 379 village-level community worker service stations, employing over 1,800 community workers. It has also upgraded municipal supporting facilities built before 2000, and over 90 old residential areas.
