Terminal 3-E of the Beijing Capital International Airport reopened for international arrival on Sunday after passengers arriving in China from abroad no longer required to quarantine or undergo nucleic acid test.

Meanwhile, services for international arrival at Terminal 2 at the airport have also resumed. Passengers can exit the airport as the same way as they did prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the airport.

China Immigration Inspection teams have also resumed inspections on all international flights at Terminal 3-E. Xu Chunjing, an officer in charge on Sunday, said the teams have been testing facilities and information systems to ensure passengers can pass the inspection points smoothly.

"Furthermore, as the number of international flights landing at the Beijing Capital International Airport starts to gradually increase, the China Immigration Inspection teams will make more efforts in training and preparation to provide better services to inbound passengers," Xu said.

To handle the surge in inbound passenger numbers in the future, 12 inspection points have been added at Terminal 3-E . Also, port visa issuance, the implementation of the 24/72/144-hour visa-free transit policy and the issuance of temporary entry permits has also been resumed on Sunday.

Inbound passengers were entering Beijing via Terminal 3-D at the airport since March 10, 2020, where they underwent nucleic acid test and were taken to quarantine facilities. Operations in Terminal 3-D have been temporarily suspended from Sunday.

Passengers will still need a negative nucleic acid test 48 hours before departure and have to wear protective masks onboard flights, according to the requirements from the State Council's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism.
