At 10:35 am on December 22, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft landed smoothly at Huangshan Tunxi International Airport – located in Huangshan city, in Anhui province – marking the official opening of the new Shantou-Huangshan-Zhengzhou route.
This is the airport's second new route for the 2022/2023 winter season.
It is expected to play an important role in promoting commerce, trade and tourism between Huangshan city, the Chaoshan region in South China's Guangdong province and Zhengzhou city, capital of Henan province in central China.
The new route is scheduled to operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
With the gradual recovery of the aviation market, operator China Southern Airlines plans to increase its routes in the summer season of 2023.
"Up until now, the airlines operating in Huangshan have restored routes to nine cities including Beijing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou," said Ye Zhenbin, head of the airport's marketing department.
"The winter season flights are expected to be resumed by the end of December," Ye added.
