Dec 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 3,761 new cases of confirmed infections (65 imported cases, 41 in Guangdong province, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Gansu province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Yunnan province; 3,696 indigenous cases, 1,599 in Guangdong province, 547 in Beijing municipality, 310 in Fujian province, 271 in Chongqing municipality, 263 in Yunnan province, 112 in Hubei province, 110 in Sichuan province, 93 in Hunan province, 79 in Shanghai municipality, 57 in Tianjin municipality, 41 in Heilongjiang province, 34 in Henan province, 32 in Zhejiang province, 25 in Shaanxi province, 23 in Jiangxi province, 23 in Shandong province, 18 in Shanxi province, 15 in Hebei province, 15 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 13 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 9 in Hainan province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Qinghai province, 1 in Guizhou province, 1 in Tibet autonomous region and 1 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region), no deaths, and 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were indigenous cases in Beijing municipality).

On Dec 22, 2,150 patients were released from hospital after being cured (69 imported cases; 2,081 indigenous cases, 972 in Guangdong province, 272 in Beijing municipality, 263 in Shanxi province, 103 in Chongqing municipality, 91 in Fujian province, 71 in Sichuan province, 54 in Shandong province, 44 in Tianjin municipality, 42 in Henan province, 26 in Zhejiang province, 24 in Liaoning province, 24 in Yunnan province, 23 in Shanghai municipality, 15 in Jilin province, 12 in Heilongjiang province, 10 in Jiangsu province, 10 in Hubei province, 7 in Hebei province, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 5 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Guizhou province, 2 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Qinghai province). 50,372 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 42.

As of 24:00 on Dec 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 28,889 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 28,418 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 471 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 393,067 confirmed cases and 5,241 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 348,357 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 39,355 confirmed cases (including 416 cases in serious condition) and 23 suspected cases. 15,369,289 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 167,935 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Dec 22, 9,139,608 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 493,234 in Hong Kong (11,327 had died and 107,869 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 1,819 in Macao (18 had died and 1,426 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,644,555 in Taiwan (14,999 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
