Dec 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 3,030 new cases of confirmed infections (64 imported cases, 47 in Guangdong province, 7 in Sichuan province, 5 in Shandong province, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Heilongjiang province; 2,966 indigenous cases, 1,325 in Guangdong province, 471 in Beijing municipality, 209 in Chongqing municipality, 187 in Fujian province, 157 in Yunnan province, 115 in Hunan province, 97 in Sichuan province, 77 in Tianjin municipality, 47 in Shanghai municipality, 46 in Shanxi province, 42 in Henan province, 40 in Jiangxi province, 37 in Zhejiang province, 31 in Shaanxi province, 20 in Shandong province, 15 in Heilongjiang province, 14 in Hebei province, 13 in Jiangsu province, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 6 in Qinghai province, 5 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 2 in Hainan province), no deaths, and 1 new case of suspected infections (an indigenous case in Beijing municipality).

On Dec 21, 2,352 patients were released from hospital after being cured (64 imported cases; 2,288 indigenous cases, 628 in Guangdong province, 464 in Beijing municipality, 325 in Henan province, 295 in Shanxi province, 104 in Shandong province, 79 in Guizhou province, 78 in Fujian province, 49 in Shanghai municipality, 45 in Chongqing municipality, 30 in Liaoning province, 29 in Yunnan province, 27 in Sichuan province, 20 in Zhejiang province, 18 in Hebei province, 16 in Hubei province, 15 in Qinghai province, 14 in Hainan province, 13 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 11 in Heilongjiang province, 8 in Shaanxi province, 7 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Hunan province, 2 in Jilin province, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region). 56,880 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 45.

As of 24:00 on Dec 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 28,824 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 28,349 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 475 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 389,306 confirmed cases and 5,241 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 346,207 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 37,770 confirmed cases (including 374 cases in serious condition) and 20 suspected cases. 15,360,729 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 211,122 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Dec 21, 9,117,589 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 491,154 in Hong Kong (11,293 had died and 107,302 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 1,755 in Macao (17 had died and 1,361 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,624,680 in Taiwan (14,958 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
