Based on its established medical industry resources and track record, the city of Taizhou – which is located in East China's Jiangsu province – began construction of a bio-medical industrial park called China Medical City in November 2006.
Things subsequently went well and in March 2009, the park was upgraded to become the first national professional medicine high-tech zone.
At present, it is one of the top 20 national bio-medical industrial parks in terms of its comprehensive competitiveness – offering antibodies, vaccines, diagnostic reagents, high-end medical devices, new chemical drug preparations and special medical formula foods services.
The planning area of China Medical City currently under construction covers 30 square kilometers. The park includes six functional areas – a scientific research and development area, manufacturing area, exhibition and trading area, health and medical area (international precision health center), education and teaching area and a comprehensive support area.
To date, the park has attracted over 1,200 domestic and leading international companies, including AstraZeneca, Nestle and Takeda.
More than 2,100 medical innovation achievements have been announced there and over 4,300 top people from all over the world have settled there to pursue innovation and entrepreneurial activities.
