Dec 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2,722 new cases of confirmed infections (66 imported cases, 36 in Guangdong province, 10 in Sichuan province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 2,656 indigenous cases, 1,075 in Guangdong province, 456 in Beijing municipality, 189 in Chongqing municipality, 137 in Jiangxi province, 125 in Fujian province, 115 in Hunan province, 106 in Shanghai municipality, 93 in Sichuan province, 85 in Yunnan province, 47 in Zhejiang province, 45 in Tianjin municipality, 45 in Henan province, 32 in Shandong province, 26 in Shaanxi province, 21 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 17 in Heilongjiang province, 13 in Shanxi province, 12 in Hebei province, 5 in Jilin province, 4 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Hainan province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Guizhou province), 5 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Beijing municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Dec 19, 2,017 patients were released from hospital after being cured (89 imported cases; 1,928 indigenous cases, 917 in Guangdong province, 288 in Beijing municipality, 191 in Yunnan province, 93 in Chongqing municipality, 67 in Liaoning province, 62 in Fujian province, 59 in Sichuan province, 36 in Zhejiang province, 32 in Shaanxi province, 29 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 29 in Heilongjiang province, 29 in Shandong province, 21 in Henan province, 15 in Hainan province, 11 in Jiangsu province, 8 in Hebei province, 7 in Guizhou province, 6 in Tianjin municipality, 6 in Shanxi province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Hubei province, 4 in Hunan province, 4 in Tibet autonomous region, 3 in Qinghai province, 2 in Jilin province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region). 61,019 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 23.

As of 24:00 on Dec 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 28,708 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 28,241 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 467 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 383,175 confirmed cases and 5,242 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 341,902 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 35,976 confirmed cases (including 276 cases in serious condition) and 19 suspected cases. 15,329,166 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 291,547 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Dec 19, 9,077,536 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 487,553 in Hong Kong (11,210 had died and 106,301 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 1,569 in Macao (13 had died and 1,115 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,588,414 in Taiwan (14,913 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
