Zhuhai, Macao promote further mutual cooperation

Zhuhai and Macao will spare no effort in progressing the construction of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and boosting mutual high-quality cooperation, officials announced via video link during 2022 Zhuhai-Macao Cooperation Conference on Dec 14.

Topics regarding developing Zhuhai-Macao sci-tech innovation, increasing tourism cooperation, and enhancing mutual economic and trade cooperation were discussed during the conference.

Suggestions on further promoting cooperation in financial innovation, education exchanges, and medicine were also put forward.

Zhuhai Mayor Huang Zhihao, said that the Macao SAR government has been providing lots of support for Zhuhai's socioeconomic development and Zhuhai will continue to help promote Macao's diversified economic development.

Huang added that Zhuhai will optimize the joint COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures with Macao and deepen the sharing and cooperation of medical resources. Their aim is to better satisfy medical demands for Zhuhai and Macao residents.

Lei Wai Nong, secretary of the Macao Secretariat for Economy and Finance of Macao, noted that the cooperation between Zhuhai and Macao has been constantly strengthening in recent years and has played a vital role in areas of the joint pandemic prevention and control as well as the construction of Hengqin.

It is expected that the two cities will accelerate the construction of the sci-tech exchange and cooperation center between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs). This will contribute to the establishment of a global sci-tech innovation center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The two cities will further promote industrial cooperation between each other and will strengthen policy innovation and coordinated development.

Both cities will work together to improve people's livelihood, especially in areas such as education and health. They will strive to jointly create a high-quality living environment that is suitable for people to live and work.
