Three places from Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province recently made the list of the 50 most popular public cultural venues in China.
The list was released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the China Public Cultural Centers Association.
The three honor recipients are Ningbo Shanyuan, Xinqi Bookstore, and Qingcaoxiang Cultural Post Station.
Shanyuan, a charity cultural landmark in the city, spans 16,000 square meters and hosts more than 100 cultural events annually.
Located in the Aixin Park in Ningbo’s Beilun district, Xieqi Bookstore has a collection of about 30,000 books and is open to the public for free. Reading activities are held in the bookstore regularly.
Situated in Li's Mansion, a cultural relic unit in Ningbo's Xiangshan county, Qingcaoxiang Cultural Post Station is a 1,150-square-meter building built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It houses a dozen workshops that promote intangible cultural heritage items, including bamboo root carving, wheat straw painting and bamboo weaving.
