Dec 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,995 new cases of confirmed infections (77 imported cases, 31 in Guangdong province, 14 in Sichuan province, 7 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Shandong province, 5 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Liaoning province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Gansu province; 1,918 indigenous cases, 846 in Guangdong province, 314 in Beijing municipality, 198 in Chongqing municipality, 93 in Hunan province, 87 in Fujian province, 74 in Yunnan province, 65 in Sichuan province, 40 in Zhejiang province, 39 in Tianjin municipality, 39 in Henan province, 33 in Shandong province, 23 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 23 in Shanghai municipality, 15 in Shaanxi province, 11 in Hebei province, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Shanxi province, 3 in Hainan province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Qinghai province and 1 in Anhui province), 2 deaths (both were indigenous cases in Beijing municipality), and 1 new case of suspected infections (an indigenous case in Fujian province).

On Dec 18, 1,344 patients were released from hospital after being cured (47 imported cases; 1,297 indigenous cases, 606 in Guangdong province, 251 in Beijing municipality, 113 in Chongqing municipality, 75 in Fujian province, 72 in Zhejiang province, 34 in Heilongjiang province, 22 in Shandong province, 18 in Henan province, 15 in Hebei province, 12 in Liaoning province, 12 in Guizhou province, 11 in Jiangsu province, 9 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Sichuan province, 7 in Shaanxi province, 6 in Hubei province, 5 in Shanxi province, 3 in Yunnan province, 3 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Hunan province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region). 60,777 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 11.

As of 24:00 on Dec 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 28,642 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 28,152 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 490 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 380,453 confirmed cases and 5,237 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 339,885 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 35,298 confirmed cases (including 253 cases in serious condition) and 20 suspected cases. 15,302,649 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 326,119 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Dec 18, 9,065,551 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 486,026 in Hong Kong (11,171 had died and 106,038 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 1,472 in Macao (11 had died and 975 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,578,053 in Taiwan (14,890 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
