Dec 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2,157 new cases of confirmed infections (66 imported cases, 17 in Guangdong province, 14 in Beijing municipality, 11 in Sichuan province, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Fujian province; 2,091 indigenous cases, 1,065 in Guangdong province, 428 in Beijing municipality, 154 in Chongqing municipality, 62 in Fujian province, 61 in Sichuan province, 43 in Zhejiang province, 39 in Shandong province, 36 in Shanghai municipality, 31 in Yunnan province, 30 in Henan province, 27 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 23 in Tianjin municipality, 16 in Shanxi province, 14 in Liaoning province, 13 in Hebei province, 11 in Qinghai province, 10 in Jiangsu province, 8 in Guizhou province, 7 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 2 in Hainan province and 1 in Tibet autonomous region), no deaths, and 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were indigenous cases, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On Dec 15, 2,145 patients were released from hospital after being cured (54 imported cases; 2,091 indigenous cases, 858 in Guangdong province, 262 in Beijing municipality, 180 in Sichuan province, 141 in Fujian province, 97 in Yunnan province, 75 in Shaanxi province, 73 in Shandong province, 68 in Henan province, 55 in Chongqing municipality, 44 in Heilongjiang province, 40 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 31 in Shanxi province, 31 in Zhejiang province, 30 in Jiangsu province, 27 in Guizhou province, 17 in Gansu province, 16 in Hebei province, 14 in Liaoning province, 11 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Hunan province, 5 in Anhui province, 4 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Tibet autonomous region, 1 in Qinghai province and 1 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region). 116,701 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 26.

As of 24:00 on Dec 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 28,439 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 28,015 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 424 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 374,075 confirmed cases and 5,235 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 334,119 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 34,707 confirmed cases (including 193 cases in serious condition) and 19 suspected cases. 15,205,242 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 446,786 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Dec 15, 9,014,564 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 481,354 in Hong Kong (11,075 had died and 104,617 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 1,299 in Macao (7 had died and 874 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,531,911 in Taiwan (14,796 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
