Statistics show that over the first three quarters of this year, the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) reported the sale of 101,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs), which is 17.46 billion yuan in NEV sales revenue. This is 1.55 times more than the same period last year.
In recent years, the zone has taken utilized opportunities in the automobile industry, and accelerated the cultivation of the NEV industry. This was done to develop the automobile sector in a greener, more high-end and intelligent way.
Located in the southwest part of Wuhan, WEDZ is home to nine car manufacturers, 13 automobile workshops, and over 500 famous auto part suppliers. It has become a national auto hub, also known as the auto valley of China.
The zone has currently built China's largest autonomous driving pilot zone with the most application scenarios and the most advanced 5G network. Over 10 types of unmanned vehicles are being tested there.
In addition, the zone has gathered about 60 intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) enterprises, and has established R&D platforms with China's top universities, in order to construct an ICV industrial network.
