Dec 14: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2,291 new cases of confirmed infections (42 imported cases, 8 in Fujian province, 8 in Shandong province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Heilongjiang province and 1 in Jiangsu province; 2,249 indigenous cases, 1,044 in Guangdong province, 476 in Beijing municipality, 179 in Chongqing municipality, 112 in Hainan province, 90 in Zhejiang province, 73 in Sichuan province, 70 in Fujian province, 66 in Henan province, 20 in Liaoning province, 20 in Shandong province, 19 in Shaanxi province, 16 in Shanghai municipality, 16 in Yunnan province, 13 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 12 in Jiangsu province, 11 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Guizhou province, 2 in Hubei province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Shanxi province and 1 in Hunan province), no deaths, and 7 new cases of suspected infections (all were indigenous cases, 6 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On Dec 13, 3,357 patients were released from hospital after being cured (89 imported cases; 3,268 indigenous cases, 1,800 in Guangdong province, 295 in Beijing municipality, 177 in Chongqing municipality, 168 in Fujian province, 132 in Shanxi province, 102 in Shandong province, 79 in Heilongjiang province, 72 in Yunnan province, 67 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 61 in Henan province, 57 in Zhejiang province, 45 in Jiangsu province, 41 in Sichuan province, 37 in Guizhou province, 34 in Shaanxi province, 25 in Liaoning province, 22 in Shanghai municipality, 14 in Hunan province, 9 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 8 in Anhui province, 7 in Hebei province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Hubei province, 2 in Tibet autonomous region, 2 in Gansu province, 2 in Qinghai province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Jilin province and 1 in Jiangxi province). 232,391 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Dec 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 28,317 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 27,873 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 444 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Dec 13, the National Health Commission had received reports of 369,918 confirmed cases and 5,235 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 329,409 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 35,274 confirmed cases (including 150 cases in serious condition) and 14 suspected cases. 15,109,273 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 596,873 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on Dec 13, 8,977,357 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 478,020 in Hong Kong (11,021 had died and 103,631 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 1,142 in Macao (6 had died and 804 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 8,498,195 in Taiwan (14,722 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).

Note: The present policy for COVID-19 nucleic acid testing is that it is voluntary. It's impossible to get accurate statistics for asymptomatic cases given the fact that many asymptomatic cases choose not to take nucleic acid tests. Therefore, starting from Dec 14, 2022, statistics for asymptomatic cases will no longer be released.
