Qidong in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, ended its fishing moratorium on Sept 20 and a large batch of seafood started hitting the market.

Pomfret, hairtail, yellow croaker, flounder and mackerel will soon be available at markets.

From 12 am on May 1 to Aug 1 every year, fishing is completely prohibited to allow fish populations to replenish. At 12 am on Aug 1, bans on some fishing gear and fishing boats are lifted, and fishermen are allowed to catch swimming crabs and shrimp.

According to the convention, every year's fishing moratorium ends at 12 am on Sept 16. Due to this year's 12th and 14th typhoons, a total of more than 800 fishing boats took shelter at the Lyusi fishing port.

After the typhoon warning was lifted on the morning of Sept 20, all permitted fishing boats were able to go out to sea to fish.
