Core industrial, telecom and wireless data must be subject to security assessment before leaving China, according to a data management document unveiled by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The document, published by the ministry on its official website on Tuesday, said the important and core data collected and generated by data processors in the industry and information field within the territory of China should be stored within its territory.
If there is a need for a cross-border transfer of the important and core data, they must go through security assessments in accordance with the laws and regulations, said the document, which will be put into trial implementation starting from Jan 1, 2023.
