China will offer production materials to families in Pakistan's Baluchistan province to help restore their livelihoods, and provide schools and communities in remote areas of Nepal with supplies for sanitation, pandemic prevention, and environmental protection as well as daily necessities through the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund.

That is according to the two agreements signed by Tang Wenhong, deputy head of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, and Beate Trankmann, UNDP resident representative in China, on Nov 29.

At the High-level Dialogue on Global Development on June 24, China announced that it will upgrade the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund to a Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund, providing an additional $1 billion on top of the $3 billion already committed.

The above two assistance projects are practical measures taken by China to take the lead in implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI). On Sept 20, State Councilor Wang Yi chaired the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of the GDI in New York, and released the first list of the GDI project pool.

The two projects were included in the list and are expected to promote the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and help the Pakistani and Nepali people achieve common development.
