Major tourism industry scientific research cooperation activity held in Changchun, Jilin

A major tourism research conference – held on Dec 9 in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province – is expected to inject more cutting-edge innovation and technology into the tourism sector, according to local media reports.

The event was sponsored by Jilin's science and technology department and organized by the domestic cooperation office at Jilin University.

Enterprises from inside and outside the province participated in the event, which was also held online.

The goal was to further boost the sharing of sci-tech innovation resources between universities and enterprises, promote the commercialization and implementation of forward-looking scientific research results and improve the levels of tech innovation and applications in the tourism industry.

In recent years, Jilin province has developed a thriving modern ice and snow economic system focusing on ice and snow tourism, sports, culture and equipment. It is widely said that the tourism industry is gradually becoming a new driving force for Jilin's transformation, upgrading, vitalization and development.

During the event, representatives of participating enterprises and experts and academics from Jilin University gave presentations on sci-tech achievements and on the technological needs of businesses.

The event also witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Key Laboratory of Ice and Snow Tourism Site Equipment and Intelligent Service Technology at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Jilin University and 13 key enterprises in the tourism sector.
