Southeast University in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu, will cooperate with the Wuxi municipal government to build its Wuxi campus, according to a cooperation agreement inked between the two sides on Nov 15.
The cooperation agreement states that both parties will equip the campus with supporting facilities for 10,000 students, improve the discipline system, and recruit high-caliber talent.
They will also focus more on the development of microelectronics (or integrated circuits), digital design and intelligent manufacturing, marine information and engineering schools, as well as move forward with the relocation of SEU's future technology school on the Wuxi campus.
The Wuxi campus features a complete talent training system including undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students and is expected to become a top campus in China with international influence.
SEU's Wuxi campus costs 3.05 billion yuan ($430.53 million) and will be completed by the end of this year.
Zuo Wei, Party secretary of SEU, said at the signing ceremony that the university will make full use of innovation platforms to promote coordination between teaching and research, and that the Wuxi campus will play a bigger role in serving local economic and social development.
Party secretary of Wuxi Du Xiaogang pledged to offer SEU teachers and students a comfortable working and living environment, making Wuxi a place where they can realize their dreams.
