The commerce bureau of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has coordinated with local enterprises to procure large amounts of fresh vegetables for locked-down areas and communities in the zone.
"We are mainly responsible for the storage, packing and delivery of the vegetable bags," said Tang La, who works for Wuhan Jingkai Agricultural Development Investment Co. Each vegetable bag, which weighs 7.5 kilograms and contains vegetables such as broccoli, tomatoes, potatoes, lutes, lettuce, cucumbers and carrots, is sold at less than market price.
So far, the company has sent 25,374 such vegetable bags to communities, elderly care institutions and households enjoying the minimum living guarantee.
Free hotlines for those experiencing psychological distress have also been created, through which residents can discuss their feelings and seek possible solutions from professionals.
