Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious universities in China, aims to build itself into a hub for global talent by 2035.
A guideline issued by the university on talent cultivation recently said that it will introduce a batch of top-notch overseas teachers and students to the university by 2025 to significantly improve its academic research capabilities and promote the country's self-reliance on high-level science and technology.
By 2030, the university will strive to build a talent pool befitting a world-class university and achieve a number of original, innovative research breakthroughs. It is expected to have a significant number of high-quality talents by 2035.
The guideline encourages teachers to conduct original, cutting-edge research on basic disciplines and core technologies to serve high-quality national development.
Attracting and nurturing talent are equally important to Tsinghua. It plans to provide tailor-made programs for postdoctoral researchers, who will have an opportunity to net teaching positions at the university.
The university has previously set a goal to become a world-class higher learning institution by 2030 and one of the top universities worldwide by 2050.
In the 2022-2023 Best Global University Rankings published recently by US News & World Report, Tsinghua's ranking rose three places to 23rd, making it the highest-ranked university in Asia.
