Yuyuan Garden, a well-known scenic spot in Huangpu district, Shanghai, is planning to launch a series of themed activities on Dec 26 to welcome the Spring Festival, which will fall on Jan 22, 2023.
The annual event was initiated in 1995, and has been held for the past 27 years. This year's event is scheduled to run for 52 days until Feb 15, 2023, and will be based on The Classic of Mountains and Rivers, a traditional Chinese myth. The event is intended to serve as a platform for residents and visitors to experience traditional Chinese culture without leaving Shanghai.
A set of lantern shows featuring mythical creatures in Chinese myths is also scheduled to take place at Yuyuan Garden. Light installations featuring the rabbit, which is the Chinese zodiac sign for the upcoming lunar year, have been planned to be set up in the main plaza.
Yuyuan Garden has been hailed as a top tourist destination for people to spend their Spring Festival holidays over the years. The scenic area will cooperate with renowned IP holders to launch a series of well-known culture and tourism products to lure visitors.
Time-honored brands at the Yuyuan Garden Shopping Mall are expected to launch a batch of rabbit-themed products to offer the public a chance to get closer to the city's intangible cultural heritages by taking part in activities aimed at involving them in traditional Chinese culture.
