Xi'an's logistics hub has made it onto the National Development and Reform Commission's 2022 national production service logistics hub construction list.
The logistics hub is located partly in the Xi'an Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone, and partly in the Xi'an Economic and Technological Development Zone. It includes seven international logistics areas, vehicle and equipment manufacturing and processing, sci-tech equipment development, and civil-military integration.
The hub boasts full-fledged facilities for storage, processing, and transfers. The hub is also near Xi'an's electronic information, automobile and equipment manufacturing bases, making it possible for it to directly serve renowned advanced manufacturing enterprises, such as Samsung, BYD, LONGi, and Huawei.
Other cities across China have set up national logistics hubs like Xi'an so that they can gather logistics resources, which will produce scale effects and boost local economy. They will also complete regional transport systems and accelerate the manufacturing and trading industries. Seen from an international perspective, they also build up to China's logistics hub network.
“The identification of Xi'an national production service logistics hub has brought us many opportunities as well as challenges,” said Dong Xu, president of China Chengtong Supply Chain Service Co, a subsidiary of China Logistics Co. “This move will help us expand the market and increase operational interests, and will also enhance the influence of our brand,” Dong added.
The company has established branches in five continents across the globe. It chose to be based in Xi'an mainly for its preferential location in the Belt and Road Initiative, well-structured industrial layouts, and its huge potential in logistic service demand.
