Dairy giant Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co, or Yili Group – based in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – won first place in the dairy industry in the 2022 China Corporate Social Responsibility Development Index, the fifth time it has won the honor.

The honor was revealed on Nov 20 in the Blue Book of Corporate Social Responsibility 2022 – released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It conducted independent, systematic and in-depth research on the social responsibility development levels of 300 large Chinese enterprises and 15 key industries.

It has been released for 14 consecutive years and is an authoritative and comprehensive corporate social responsibility research report in China.

For a long time, Yili has closely combined its social responsibilities with corporate development. For its part, Yili is said to have always attached great importance to achieving peak carbon and carbon neutrality, continuously improving its carbon management system and leading the carbon reduction work of the entire industry supply chain with practical actions.

Yili was the first enterprise in the industry to perform carbon inspections and since 2010, it's carried out comprehensive inspections within the group for 12 consecutive years.

On April 8, it released the Zero Carbon Future Plan of the Yili Group and the Roadmap of the Yili Group Zero Carbon Future Plan – indicating that Yili achieved peak carbon in 2012 and will achieve carbon neutrality in the entire industry supply chain by 2050. It has also set itself specific tasks in the field, to be conducted in three phases in 2030, 2040 and 2050.

China's recently implemented guidance for enterprise disclosure standards on environmental, social, and governance or ESG initiatives reportedly aims to establish a framework that efficiently provides risk assessments and performance indicators.

Yili participated in the preparation of the national Enterprise ESG Evaluation Guidelines and Enterprise ESG Management System Requirements (group standards), which have now been officially released. These are said to provide an invaluable reference for enterprises to standardize their ESG management systems.
