The 2022 North Bund Forum will start on Nov 22 in East China's Shanghai and run to Nov 24 entitled "Green, Intelligent and Resilient Global Shipping & Aviation through Global Partnerships," municipal government officials announced on Nov 18.
Hosted by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Ministry of Transport, the forum will consist of an opening ceremony, a main forum, two parallel forums and six themed sessions, said Shanghai vice-mayor Zhang Wei at a news conference.
The two parallel forums are the North Bund International Shipping Forum and the North Bund International Aviation Forum. The shipping forum will focus on a green, smart and resilient supply chain and the aviation forum would be about sharing opportunities in the digital economy and building a green and smart civil aviation sector.
Officials from China's Ministry of Transport and the Shanghai government, as well as ministerial guests from other countries and international maritime and civil aviation organizations, will deliver speeches at the event, along with economists and energy experts.
A number of contracts are expected to be signed and cooperative events agreed.
A new measure relating to carbon intensity in the global shipping industry will be presented at this year's forum, as part of China's determination and strategy to further decrease carbon emissions.
The event will strictly adhere to current COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control procedures.
Officials said that since last year's forum, Shanghai has made significant progress in a variety of fields, including logistics, sustainable development, equipment and facilities and international cooperation.
According to the Xinhua-Baltic Exchange International Shipping Center Development Index, Shanghai was one of the top three shipping centers in the world last year.
