Focusing on the "Implementation Plan for Rural Ecological Revitalization (2018-2022)", the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has advanced key tasks this year such as the improvement of the living environment in rural areas, green development of agriculture and animal husbandry, and ecological protection and restoration.

Since the beginning of this year, the Ordos development and reform commission has spent 650 million yuan ($92.72 million) to boost rural vitalization.

Twenty million yuan will be used for the improvement of the rural living environment, 126 million yuan for water and soil erosion control, and 508 million yuan for ecological protection and restoration as well as the construction of an ecological support system.

Since 2012, efforts have been made by Ordos to further push forward rural vitalization, leading to promising results.

Over the past 10 years, Ordos renovated 65,371 dilapidated houses in rural and pastoral areas and improved toilets for 92,457 households.

Meanwhile, Ordos built 81 waste incineration facilities in rural areas and 17 landfills for domestic waste.

Currently, all villages have placed waste sorting boxes and built waste compression transfer stations.

The coverage rate of domestic waste collection, transportation and disposal systems in rural areas in Ordos reached 98 percent, and the coverage rate of domestic waste collection, transportation and disposal systems in areas along the Yellow River reached 100 percent.

In addition, Ordos has completed the declaration of the traditional villages of Dujiamao and Dagouwan, and formulated a traditional village protection plan.
