Wuxi National Hi-tech District saw its gross domestic product grow 3 percent year-on-year in the first three quarters of 2022, hitting 170.39 billion yuan ($24.09 billion), according to local statistics authorities.
From January to September of this year, the added values of the district's primary industry, secondary, and tertiary industries increased by 7.3 percent, 4.3 percent, and 0.9 percent, respectively, amounting to 45 million yuan, 105.12 billion yuan, and 67.93 billion yuan.
In the same period, the industrial output value of enterprises above designated size in WND increased 9.8 percent year-on-year to 452.62 billion yuan. The added value of industries above designated size increased by 5.4 percent year-on-year, 0.7 percentage points higher than the city's average.
In the first three quarters, the district's foreign trade increased by 10.6 percent to 293.99 billion yuan. Exports increased by 23.8 percent to 171.97 billion yuan, while imports dropped 3.8 percent annually to 122.02 billion yuan.
From January to September this year, the actual use of foreign investment in WND surged 94.4 percent year-on-year to $1.07 billion. The actual use of foreign investment in manufacturing accounted for 50.9 percent of the total, an increase of 100.8 percent yearly. A total of 11 projects with more than $30 million each in foreign investment saw agreements signed.
