Shanxi zone included in national import trade demonstration list

Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone in North China's Shanxi province recently became the only zone in the province to be included in the list of national import trade promotion and innovation demonstration zones. 

The list was jointly released by eight ministries, including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Finance, on Nov 3.

Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone was officially established on Feb 25, 2017.

The zone consists of four national development zones, three provincial development zones and one university industrial park with a total planning area of 600 square kilometers in the cities of Taiyuan and Jinzhong, and is responsible for pioneering and exploring a path for Shanxi's transformation and comprehensive reform.

Over the years, the zone has been committed to creating a predictable and reliable business environment, and applying for the establishment of a national free trade zone and national-level new zone.

It is also making great efforts to cultivate industries at the 100-billion-yuan level, whole industrial chains, high-growth enterprises, and future industries.

A group of strategic emerging industries with leading international technology has already been established in the zone.

Over the past several years, China identified 14 national import trade promotion innovation demonstration zones in order to promote imports, industry and consumption, and formulate new policies, services and development models.

These zones have actively carried out policy innovation, effectively promoted the in-depth integration of import trade with industry and consumption, and also formed their own advantages and characteristics.

This year, 29 demonstration zones were added, bringing the total number of such zones in the country to 43.

They are expected to boost the development of regional import trade and realize high-quality development.
