The 2022 Hi Jiangsu trip kicked off in Nanjing on Tuesday, gathering participants from home and abroad to tour Jiangsu province and explore its development.

The week-long event has invited embassy officials in China, journalists from foreign media outlets and social media vloggers to visit the cities of Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou and Nantong to learn about Jiangsu province's development in the economy, technology, culture, ecology and people's livelihoods.

Themed The 10-Year Journey to the Chinese Dream, A Trip to Explore Beautiful Jiangsu, the event aims to help more foreign friends learn about Jiangsu's achievements in fields including social economics, social welfare and environmental protection over the past decade.

Jiangsu, an economic powerhouse in East China, is hailed as a land of fish and rice. The province covers an area of 107,200 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 85.05 million. With just 1.1 percent of China's land area and 6 percent of its population, Jiangsu accounts for more than 10 percent of the country's GDP.

According to organizers, the 2022 Hi Jiangsu will be held online and offline to bring more stories about Jiangsu's practices in promoting the Chinese path to modernization in the new era.

Co-organized by China Daily and the information office of the Jiangsu provincial government, Hi Jiangsu is an international exchange brand activity which has been held six times since 2015. It has attracted nearly 100 journalists from 30 countries and regions including the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Japan, South Korea, Pakistan, the Philippines and Malaysia to tour 11 cities across Jiangsu, and published nearly 300 reports that have been viewed 50 million times.
