A 1,200-m pilot rope to connect Longmen Bridge's main towers on the east and west banks was hung at its designated place after around 30 minutes of installation was completed on Nov 4, marking the start of the construction of the bridge's upper structure.
The bridge stretches 7.64 kilometers and its main bridge is 1,198 meters in length. It is the largest cross-sea bridge under planning in Guangxi and is the first mega bridge in Guangxi, with its single span exceeding 1 km. It will be able to meet the navigation demands of 20,000-metric-ton ships.
It is a major component of the principal line of the National Expressway G228-Dongxing section of the Guangxi Binhai Expressway. Upon operation, it will significantly shorten the travel distance between Fangchenggang and Qinzhou Port, promoting the high-quality development of the Beibu Gulf while contributing to the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
