In recent days, the Xiumei Maonan Rural Complex Agricultural Products Processing and Trading Center in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Hechi has been full of tea-oil fruit harvested from all over the county. These fruit will enter the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area market after undergoing screening, air drying, pressing, and other procedures.
The tea-oil tree planting industry is one of the 10 major industries in Hechi. It is also one of the characteristic industries that effectively connect the achievements of poverty alleviation and rural vitalization efforts in Huangjiang.
In recent years, the county has adhered to the concept of green development, as well as encouraged farmers to develop tea-oil tree planting through the distribution of seedlings, planting subsidies, and fertilizer assistance.
To date, the tea-oil tree planting area in the county is 132,000 mu (8,800 hectares), with more than 14,000 growers, and the expected output value this year is about 60 million yuan ($8.2 million). It has established 30 professional tea-oil cooperatives, two autonomous-region-level industrial demonstration areas, and 97 tea-oil demonstration bases, as well as transformed 10,000 mu of low yield tea-oil tree forests.
