Shanxi provincial authorities held a press conference on Oct 12 to introduce the construction of the Taiyuan-Xinzhou Integrated Economic Zone.
On Dec 29 last year, the Shanxi Taiyuan-Xinzhou Integrated Economic Development Promotion Center and its two operation centers were established, indicating that construction on the zone had accelerated.
So far, Shanxi has issued the "Space Strategic Plan for the Taiyuan-Xinzhou Integrated Economic Zone in Central Shanxi", the "High-quality Development Plan for the Taiyuan-Xinzhou Integrated Economic Zone in Central Shanxi (2022-2035)", and 18 detailed plans involving industrial transfers, comprehensive transport, and the environment.

The province has introduced a number of convenient public services to the zone. The "Taixin" intercity electric multiple unit train service between Taiyuan and Xinzhou has been launched, and the public transport card has been upgraded so that it can be used in both of the two cities.
Shanxi has promoted project construction in the zone, with 75 percent of 682 projects with investment of 100 million yuan ($13.90 million) each starting or resuming construction as of the end of September.
From January to August, infrastructure investment in the zone was valued at 15.99 billion yuan, with the growth rate 67 percentage points higher than that of the province, and the added value of the zone's manufacturing industry was 29.6 percentage points higher than that of the province overall.
