On Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 503 new cases of confirmed infections (62 imported cases, 17 in Fujian province, 14 in Guangdong province, 9 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province; 441 indigenous cases, 207 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 53 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 34 in Guangdong province, 22 in Sichuan province, 20 in Shanxi province, 20 in Shaanxi province, 19 in Chongqing municipality, 14 in Yunnan province, 8 in Henan province, 8 in Hainan province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Liaoning province, 4 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Tibet autonomous region, 3 in Hunan province, 3 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guizhou province and 1 in Anhui province, including 103 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 71 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 7 in Guangdong province, 7 in Chongqing municipality, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Yunnan province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Oct 8, 184 patients were released from hospital after being cured (54 imported cases; 130 indigenous cases, 47 in Sichuan province, 35 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 10 in Guizhou province, 8 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 7 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Hainan province, 2 in Tibet autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Qinghai province). 27,224 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 24,600 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 23,959 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 641 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 253,141 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 244,297 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,618 confirmed cases (including 13 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 6,306,281 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 274,285 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,422 new asymptomatic cases (115 imported cases; 1,307 indigenous cases, 424 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 383 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 61 in Gansu province, 45 in Sichuan province, 36 in Yunnan province, 32 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 31 in Hubei province, 30 in Henan province, 30 in Shaanxi province, 29 in Tibet autonomous region, 22 in Anhui province, 21 in Guangdong province, 20 in Liaoning province, 19 in Shanghai municipality, 18 in Hunan province, 16 in Shanxi province, 15 in Guizhou province, 13 in Jiangsu province, 12 in Hebei province, 10 in Zhejiang province, 8 in Shandong province, 7 in Jilin province, 7 in Chongqing municipality, 5 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 2 in Beijing municipality).

On Oct 8, 523 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (93 imported cases; 430 indigenous cases, 132 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 77 in Heilongjiang province, 44 in Tibet autonomous region, 40 in Sichuan province, 35 in Guizhou province, 29 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 13 in Jiangxi province, 11 in Tianjin municipality, 7 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 7 in Yunnan province, 6 in Shandong province, 4 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Gansu province, 3 in Henan province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Hubei province, 2 in Hainan province, 2 in Qinghai province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shaanxi province). 108 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 5 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 11,043 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 850 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 8, 7,246,805 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 419,023 in Hong Kong (10,215 had died and 86,548 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 6,826,989 in Taiwan (11,465 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
