Statistics from the comprehensive free trade zone in Suzhou New District, East China's Jiangsu province, show that from January to August this year, Suzhou had operated 224 China-Europe freight trains, local media outlets reported.
A total of 11,076 40-foot containers loaded with 196,400 metric tons of cargo were shipped, with the total cargo weight increasing by 34 percent year on year. The cargo was valued at $1.22 billion in total.
The SND FTZ has since the beginning of this year prioritized epidemic under control, stabilizing economic progress, and pursuing safe development. It has strived to diversify its freight train services by opening the Suzhou-Horgos-Milan, Suzhou-Horgos-Poti, and Suzhou-Mohan-Laos routes so as to expand into more Asian and European areas and minimize the impact of the turbulent international situation.
