Oct 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 179 new cases of confirmed infections (63 imported cases, 29 in Guangdong province, 13 in Fujian province, 6 in Sichuan province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Zhejiang province, including 7 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 4 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province and 1 in Beijing municipality; 116 indigenous cases, 26 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 25 in Sichuan province, 17 in Guangdong province, 9 in Shanxi province, 6 in Yunnan province, 6 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 5 in Shandong province, 5 in Tibet autonomous region, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Guizhou province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Hunan province, including 17 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 8 in Sichuan province, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Oct 1, 143 patients were released from hospital after being cured (40 imported cases; 103 indigenous cases, 29 in Sichuan province, 29 in Guizhou province, 12 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 9 in Shandong province, 5 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in Tibet autonomous region, 2 in Hunan province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Qinghai province). 15,847 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 6.

As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 24,208 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 23,577 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 631 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 250,800 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 242,629 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,945 confirmed cases (including 25 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 6,056,774 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 172,403 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 540 new asymptomatic cases (108 imported cases; 432 indigenous cases, 156 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 49 in Tibet autonomous region, 30 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 27 in Sichuan province, 26 in Tianjin municipality, 24 in Guizhou province, 15 in Heilongjiang province, 13 in Shandong province, 11 in Henan province, 10 in Guangdong province, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 9 in Hebei province, 8 in Yunnan province, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 6 in Shaanxi province, 5 in Anhui province, 5 in Hubei province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Gansu province, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Hunan province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On Oct 1, 635 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (68 imported cases; 567 indigenous cases, 183 in Guizhou province, 143 in Tibet autonomous region, 55 in Heilongjiang province, 43 in Sichuan province, 24 in Shandong province, 19 in Hubei province, 15 in Tianjin municipality, 13 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 11 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 9 in Jiangxi province, 8 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 6 in Hebei province, 6 in Gansu province, 5 in Liaoning province, 5 in Jilin province, 5 in Henan province, 5 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Qinghai province). 24 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 7 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 10,363 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 745 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 6,920,359 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 415,144 in Hong Kong (10,167 had died and 85,125 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 6,504,422 in Taiwan (11,101 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
