PetroChina's Changqing Petrochemical Company attaches importance to social responsibility

PetroChina's Changqing Petrochemical Company, headquartered in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, Northwest China, released its Social Responsibility Report 2020-2021on Sept 24.

Li Libin, secretary of the Party Committee and executive director of the Changqing Petrochemical Company, said that enterprises are important organizational units of society, and fulfilling social responsibility is not only a requirement of economic development, but also part of the sustainable development of modern enterprises.

According to Li, since the establishment of the Changqing Petrochemical Plant 30 years ago, it has always adhered to the values of "contributing clean petrochemical energy and helping the city live a better life", fully and accurately implementing new development concepts, actively assuming economic, political and social responsibilities, promoting local economic and social development through symbiosis with the city, and sharing development achievements between his enterprise and local society.

"We took the sharing of development achievements as the most direct value expression, actively participating in rural revitalization and public welfare undertakings, investing 4 million yuan ($559,200) annually over the past two years, and have benefited about 30,000 people, demonstrating the responsibility of central enterprises," Li said.

The company has also cooperated with the local government to vigorously promote the construction of a circular economy, steadily heating more than 10,000 households in the 12 surrounding communities through winter for 11 consecutive years, helping to reduce pollution and carbon in the region.

Li said that Changqing will speed up the construction of four bases, including the integrated base for the refining and marketing of clean oil products; the aviation coal supply guarantee base in the western region; the hydrogen energy production base, and the scientific and technological innovation, new technology application and talent training base. The company will constantly improve the management, practice and integration of its social responsibilities.
