Dalian tunnel completes pipe installation

The last immersed pipe section of the Dalian Bay Subsea Tunnel, the first large-scale cross-sea immersed tunnel in northern China, was successfully installed on Friday night in Dalian, Liaoning province.
The immersed pipe is 3,035 meters long and is composed of 18 sections, which were installed successfully within 20 months.
First Harbor Engineering Co under China Communications Construction Co said it has created a new record for installation speed in the history of cross-sea immersed pipe tunnels.
The tunnel is the northernmost of its kind in China. It is expected to be a new north-south expressway for coastal city Dalian.
