Sept 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 188 new cases of confirmed infections (59 imported cases, 15 in Shanghai municipality, 15 in Guangdong province, 5 in Fujian province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Liaoning province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province, including 6 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Fujian province; 129 indigenous cases, 51 in Sichuan province, 32 in Guizhou province, 21 in Heilongjiang province, 11 in Tibet autonomous region, 5 in Guangdong province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Yunnan province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including 24 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 9 in Sichuan province, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Guizhou province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On Sept 23, 206 patients were released from hospital after being cured (60 imported cases; 146 indigenous cases, 59 in Sichuan province, 22 in Guangdong province, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 10 in Hainan province, 8 in Shaanxi province, 7 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Liaoning province, 6 in Tibet autonomous region, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Guizhou province, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Qinghai province). 28,821 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 23,691 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 23,128 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 563 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 249,172 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 240,906 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,040 confirmed cases (including 28 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 5,901,287 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 133,490 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 730 new asymptomatic cases (106 imported cases; 624 indigenous cases, 209 in Heilongjiang province, 121 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region, 111 in Tibet autonomous region, 70 in Guizhou province, 51 in Sichuan province, 12 in Yunnan province, 9 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 7 in Shandong province, 7 in Henan province, 5 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Hebei province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Gansu province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Shaanxi province).

On Sept 23, 2,597 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (106 imported cases; 2,491 indigenous cases, 1,595 in Tibet autonomous region, 363 in Qinghai province, 89 in Heilongjiang province, 66 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 65 in Jiangxi province, 63 in Sichuan province, 52 in Liaoning province, 36 in Guizhou province, 33 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 26 in Hubei province, 23 in Shandong province, 20 in Jilin province, 13 in Guangdong province, 13 in Hainan province, 12 in Gansu province, 7 in Henan province, 5 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Zhejiang province). 30 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 6 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 12,392 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 765 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 23, 6,584,618 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 411,056 in Hong Kong (10,099 [after verification] had died and 82,583 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 793 in Macao (6 had died and 787 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 6,172,769 in Taiwan (10,743 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
